I'm more annoyed than I can tell you that 200 people complained about a Heinz Deli Mayo ad which featured a quick kiss between two men, and even more annoyed that because of the complaints, Heinz has withdrawn the ad. Dear God, what's wrong with us? In the name of humanity, the ad is funny, and the kiss is part of the joke. The ad can't be shown around kids' programming anyway because the product is so high in fat, salt and sugar it would be in breach of broadcasting guidelines, so what's the problem? And even if the ad wasn't funny and the kiss wasn't a joke, so what?

It's got nothing to do with kids. The people who didn't like this ad couldn't say, `We want this ad removed because it offends us,' because that would limit their chances of success. Invoke the kids, though, and that makes everyone sit up.
More seriously, I understand Stonewall are taking up arms against it, and I credited Stonewall with more common sense than that. And a sense of humour.

I just went to Heinz's website and used their feedback form to complain about them pandering to homophobes by pulling the ad.

Feedback form is here: http://www.hjheinz.ie/content/talk_to_us.aspx if anyone else feels like doing the same.
