I know humour is a personal thing, but a television channel called Dave (can you guess why I'm a fan?) has been running a poll of the jokes on offer at this year's Edinburgh Festival, and The Times reports on the winner and the Top Ten. My favourites? Actually, I LOLed at all of them. So, there you go.

Tee, and indeed, hee! The velcro line was my favourite (probably because I can picture Tim Vine saying it), closely followed by 'Jesus loves me' joke.

You gotta love the Dave channel. Top Gear, Top Gear, Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson's Cars, Top Gear... I like Top Gear, though, so I'm not complaining.

...Have I Got News For You, QI, Buzzcocks. I like Top Gear too, but there's only a certain number of `Star In A Reasonably Priced Car's that I can watch before my brain goes numb, whereas I can watch QI till the cows come home.
I've tried the velcro gag on people and it does seem more popular than the Winehouse one, but I like the Winehouse one.

Oh yes, one can't overlook HIGNFY and Buzzcock, although the latter had that little curly-headed Anstell(sp?) git presenting later episodes, and he was even more snarky than Mark Lamarr. That spoilt it for me.

And QI is just the biz. I never really thought anything of Stephen Fry until I started watching QI. He was just that bloke who played the General in Blackadder Goes Forth. I never saw him in Fry & Laurie or Jeeves & Wooster. But QI...I love everything about the program. Even the music! Unmissable.

Actually, I think Simon Amstell is a better fit for Buzzcocks than Mark Lamarr was. Okay, it's not something on which the fate of civilisation depends, but I like the work he does.
I first realised just how important QI was when Stephen Fry mentioned Mike The Headless Chicken and the story of the Stephens Island Wren. Someone on the production team looks at the world exactly the way I do, and I don't encounter that very often.
