I agree with you 100%, but such displays are what bring the punters back for more, and practically all zoos rely on a steady flow of people coming through the turnstiles.

I agree with both of you. I get uncomfortable with the anthopomorphising of animals (although we do it all the time with the cats) and you never know just what it takes to train a walrus to play the sax - there's always that suspicion that some form of cruelty was involved.
But displays like this do bring in the punters, particularly to big aquaria - indeed they're expected these days.
