This is from our very own lilifae, and I think it's one of the funniest things I've read in quite a while. Personally, I'd be proud to get a review this well-written and funny.
And his other stuff is just as funny.

That was brilliant! And I followed your lead and checked his other reviews. If only all Amazon reviewers were so erudite (me included).

The review of the bucket is a piece of genius. I think we need to contact this man.

"I think we need to contact this man."

Have you any idea how one might start doing so? I'd love to reproduce part of this in Bogus Science.

I dunno; I tried googling him and pretty much all the entries referred to his reviews. There's an eddress on his Amazon profile page which appears to be for him: phuuknut@yahoo.com. You could try that. If it is him, say hi from me and tell him thanks. I love his work.

Many thanks for that info -- I hadn't thought (duh) to go find an Amazon profile page! Shows how often I'm on that site these days . . .

I've dropped him a line, so we'll see what happens . . .

It only occurred to me after I'd googled him. I'm not really familiar with the review side of Amazon. Best of luck.

This is funny. Completely unexpected but practical conclusion in the review. LOL!

So . . . when are we going to Basingstoke, eh? I'm packing . . . clothes, that is.

If you plan to go to Basingstoke it might be wise to pack more than clothes, if you know what I mean.
(I have to stop being nasty to Basingstoke, a wholly blameless, and indeed soulless, town) (damn it; did it again)

You mean to say "Basingstroke" is worse than Plague Town, which is wholly and unholy soulless.?

Yes, I do know what you mean -- *my leetle fren . . .* to quote Scarface.

To be fair to Basingstoke, there are fewer casinos. And more water.

lilifae was worried it would disappear soon, but it has been there since Dec. 4 2007 and did you see how many people found the review helpful? LOL!

Has it really? I didn't notice. Clearly Amazon either has a fully-developed sense of humour, or they can't check everything.
I'd like to think the people who found the review helpful were saying that out of a spirit of postmodern irony. But I can't rule out the possibility that some of them really thought it contained a shiv.

I think they surely can't check everything. I don't think they'd find it amusing somehow (though I certainly did!). I think that the people who found it helpful found it FUNNY myself! ha!

No, I don't think they can check everything; Amazon's just become too big for human beings to keep track of everything. Which makes me wonder just what other little gems are hiding out there.
Having said that, there are about three Google pages pointing to Ari's review, and sometime soon someone with clout at Amazon is going to become aware of them.
I'd like to think the people who found the review helpful got the joke. But there are some very rum folk out there.

I agree with you, and I, too, wonder how many other hidden gems are lying in wait out there! They surely must exist!

Hmmm I have to ask Bear what "rum" means. I know what DUMB means and they are probably similar! Lord, it scares me to think that there really would be people who thought it came with a shiv or shank. But, just thinking about some of the folks around here, yep, they think it.

Customer reviews of a fisher price airport security play set. Very funny.

That is literally priceless. Mind you, the concept of an airport security play set is inherently absurd to start with.

Rum's just another word for `dubious.' At least, that's how I use it.
