From today's news on this side of the village pond, I offer you the tale of the radioactive paedophile.
Anyone who tells you the world is boring doesn't know what they're talking about.

Only in Great Britain would we find "X: The Unknown Paedophile".

Remember that British flick back in the fifties? I loved "X, The Unknown". Scared me half to death when I was a kid.

I remember the great Ray Milland film X-The Man With X-Ray Eyes, which like The Incredible Shrinking Man started out fairly cheesy and built to an entirely transcendent ending.
But yes, I do remember X-The Unknown, which is absolutely packed with distinguished British character actors like Leo McKern and William Lucas. For me, it has special significance because it was directed by Leslie Norman, the father of one of our best-loved film critics of recent years and more pertinently the producer of The Cruel Sea. *sigh* Those were the days...

I'm waiting to see what superpowers he gets. "Beware, evildoers! You face the wrath of...CAT PISS MAN!"

Heh. At some point today, somewhere near Northampton, Alan Moore has probably been thinking, "Why didn't I think of that?"

Nope. This is all Real News. I saw it this morning on the BBC News website, but it appears to have vanished for the moment. You should invest in a Geiger counter; with your luck, he's going to walk into the Vortex the day after tomorrow.

Idoine 131 has an 8 day half life, and mostly decays with beta radiation, but a bit of gamma as well, so I suspect they can measure it outside his body.

"Is this the suspect?"

"Yes"

Most of us are pretty okay, you know. Some of us aren't even radioactive.

I love it. All the more so as this stuff is just getting started: APBs for humans that are contaminated/mutated/radiated, you name it, the 21st century's gonna be interesting.

my personal fave so far is how the radiation the KGB dosed that defector with got traced back to Moscow. (CUT TO shot of Putin waving middle finger)

You can laugh. You weren't living in a city where the KGB were blithely wandering around with vials of polonium. Also you didn't live just up the road from the bloke they killed.
You make an interesting point, though. None of this namby-pamby electronic tagging, just irradiate offenders and turn them loose.
