I'm not sure whether I've jumped the gun just a smidge or not; I posted the news in a fit of adolescent enthusiasm before it occurred to me to ask the editors whether I could let people know about it. I've now tried to be a little more professional and asked them if I can blurt. I'll let you know.
By the way, I wanted to say how sad I was about your cat. We've faced that decision twice now in the past few months and I know how tough it is.

I know just that feeling of wanting to tell all. Anyway, when you can.

I am very sad about Woody, and I find it hard not to think I betrayed her trust in me. I know it had to be done, but it was just horrible. You know.

I do know how you feel about Woody. Our cat, Kuron, has been ill for some time, but he became seriously ill earlier this year and so far we've been asked twice to think about having him put to sleep, and both times we've decided to carry on with treatment. So far, it's been the right decision - he's holding his own - but in dark moments I do wonder whether we're doing it more for ourselves than for him.
I think the only way you can look at it is that you have to make the decisions the cat can't make for themselves, based on how well you know them and what the vet tells you. Woody sounds as though she was extremely ill; I don't think your decision could be called a betrayal, but you'd have to have a heart of stone not to have doubts about it.

Thank you. I may have let enthusiasm get the better of me, in that I didn't ask the editors whether I could tell everyone before I told everyone. I'll let you know.

Not so much. It's the end of April already and I'm selling my first story of the year. I've got to do better than this.

YAY! Good for you! (You've sold more stories than me, so don't complain! LOL) Can't wait to hear all about it when it is legal. :)

I'm not complaining. I'm enormously lucky to sell anything, particularly this story, which started out so unpromisingly. But I ought to be trying harder than I am. I'm sort of coasting along as usual, when I should be churning stuff out and bombarding people with it.
