Aye-Aye

ou sont les bugs d'antan?

Finally for this evening, I'm indebted to realthog for this, which details what one of the world's biggest x-ray machines should really be used for. Brilliant stuff. Sod exploring the Solar System; we need more of this.

Once again, prepare to do the Happy Dance, for norilana is among us. And can we please have some decorum this time? Welcome, Vera.

poor news from the world of publishing

My mind must have been wandering over the past few days, because I entirely missed this, and I'm indebted to marlowe1 for posting something about it over at his place. If anyone else posted about it, I apologise for missing it.
Basically Amazon seems to be telling print-on-demand publishers that they have to use their in-house POD facility, BookSurge, rather than services like PublishAmerica or Lightning Source, or Amazon will start to remove their buy-buttons.
I'm always a little dubious about stories that appear around April 1, for reasons we've already seen, but this does seem supremely sucky on Amazon's part. The Register has more.
