Alpaca

i shouldn't laugh, i know...

...because being the subject of a fatwa isn't in the least bit funny, but one of the Special Branch detectives who guarded Salman Rushdie has just written his biography, which paints a less-than-flattering portrait of the great man and doesn't do Special Branch all that many favours, by the sound of it. Apparently at one point his protection officers locked him in a cupboard under the stairs while they went to the pub. Surely there's an Ealing Comedy in there somewhere. Aye-Aye

hot town, summer in the city

It's now just gone half past eleven at night, and according to the most up-to-date readings available from the Met Office weather widget on my desktop, about half an hour ago the temperature at Heathrow was 23.7 degrees Centigrade. Which would qualify as a warm day over here. Don't like teh hot; roll on Autumn.
