Brought to you by the good offices of Boing Boing and to keep you talking among yourselves until I can think of something interesting to say, I give you the cow-eating tree of Mangalore.

I'm on holiday for the next two weeks, and at the risk of incensing The (still sadly-LJless) OJM, I'll whine a little and mention that this is the first significant holiday (notwithstanding individual days off work dealing with builders, waiting for furniture to be delivered and attending family funerals) that I've had since about this time last year, and I am utterly exhausted. I need to do some writing as well, and I need to sort out The Anthology Formerly Known As Strange Pleasures 6. So, apart from next weekend, when we're going up to Novacon, I'll be looking for various displacement activities to prevent me from having to face the Fiction Thing and I may be posting in large quantities. Or, you never know, I might actually get Europe In Autumn more or less finished. Or I might just sleep through the whole fortnight. Actually, now I think about it, that sounds by far the best option...

The last time you were on holiday, you decided to force me to walk with you in the rain for 6 hours. You've really got to expand your horizons.

October/November is the best weather on the Californian Central Coast -- warm days, cool nights, no clouds. We've got a guest room available.

PS Best of luck on whatever you decide to do with the time "off."

Last year, you used part of your holiday to make me walk about in the cold rain for SIX hours. Perhaps, it is time that you expand your horizons.

The weather this time of year on the central coast of California, BTW, is no less than absolutely stellar -- warm days, cool nights, clear skies. We've got a guestroom available, a couple of acres to traipse around, and wireless internet... (however, it would still be my cooking.)

PS I must have missed something in the cow-eating tree clip; good luck on your writing endeavors whatever they be.

Bless you, sunshine, I may never forget that walk. Had I the money, I would be in OJM-land now, trust me. It would take very little to prise me away from here at the moment, if I could afford it. And don't worry about the cooking; it's about time your part of the world was introduced to my spaghetti bolognese.

Well, pretty much. Apart from supervising builders and central-heating installers, selling not very many books at NovaCon, staring in horror at Europe In Autumn, and trying to find that damn contract in the uninhabitable mess of the flat. Apart from that, yep, lots of sleep. Lovely.
