My mind must have been wandering over the past few days, because I entirely missed this, and I'm indebted to marlowe1 for posting something about it over at his place. If anyone else posted about it, I apologise for missing it.
Basically Amazon seems to be telling print-on-demand publishers that they have to use their in-house POD facility, BookSurge, rather than services like PublishAmerica or Lightning Source, or Amazon will start to remove their buy-buttons.
I'm always a little dubious about stories that appear around April 1, for reasons we've already seen, but this does seem supremely sucky on Amazon's part. The Register has more.

I really don't understand this. Amazon has been ambling along as everyone's friend for ages and all of a sudden it's like they've succumbed to some kind of enormous collective psychosis. What the hell is wrong with them?
