Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, pray tap the keg, pop the cork, do whatever it is you do with daiquiris, and dance the ancient Dance Of Welcome - long proscribed by the Church of England and certain sections of the Church of Latter Day Saints - for robsoft. Welcome, Rob.

I wasn't so sure about Against A Dark Background, and I'm sorry but I'm someone else who didn't like Whit all that much. I mean, it was okay; it's always fun to read a Banks novel, but it seemed sort of insubstantial. On the other hand, I loved Complicity.
I rather enjoyed The Algebraist (the one with the balloon creatures) but I kept having long periods when I thought it had been written by someone else. I read Dead Air and I can't remember a single thing about it.
