Years ago, when The Empire Strikes Back came out, me and some mates were doing that thing where you give yourselves Star Wars nicknames (you never did that?) and I thought Hutch Solo sounded quite good. Then someone suggested Jabba The Hutch. Which I thought was quite funny, in a post-modern ironic kind of way.

Nice one!

"...in which elves take over a post-technological Britain"

I never did trust those pointy-eared bastards. Perhaps because I've read lots of Discworld books.

A few years ago..okay, a lot of years ago, I had a sort of allergic reaction to the usual presentation of elves as wise and gentle souls and I started to wonder what they'd be like if they were crazy as a bagfull of wolverines and militant as all hell, so I wrote a story about it. Then I wrote another one. Then I wrote another one (which is this one) Then I wrote another one. Hopefully, one day there'll be enough for a book. I think there's some mileage still left.

If they do ever get collected into a book, I trust you'll mention the fact in this blog so that we can all rush out to read it?

If they ever do get collected into a book, I promise you that everyone will hear about it. I may visit you all personally and tell you face-to-face.
I've also just been alerted to the intriguing possibility that one of the stories might itself be extended into a novel, which I'll admit never occurred to me before.
